GRAND BLANC, Mich. (WNEM) – Almost 4,000 Consumers Energy customers were without power in Grand Blanc Thursday afternoon.
Consumers said power went out at 3:01 p.m. and was restored at 4:30 p.m. A squirrel entered the Porter Road substation and made contact with the electrical equipment, causing the outage.
The squirrel did not survive, said Consumers.
Consumers said it tries to keep the area closed off from animals with fencing to prevent outages and to keep the animals safe.
