A NEXT Weather Alert remains in effect Friday due to possible severe storms across Minnesota, though concerns about extreme heat have abated.
A heat advisory was in effect earlier, but was allowed to expire thanks to clouds keeping temperatures below advisory levels. Still, temperatures reached the lower 80s in the Twin Cities Friday afternoon, with noticeable humidity.
Friday night into Saturday morning could bring another severe storm complex. There could be a risk of wind, hail and flooding.
A late summer pattern takes over next week with seasonable temperatures and scattered storm chances.
