Olympian Oksana Baiul Putting House Up for Sale Because She Can’t Find Work

Olympic gold medalist Oksana Baiul is leaving her home in Shreveport, La. because she can’t find work.

Baiul, 47, shared her announcement on social media, revealing that she put her house up for sale and is relocating out of state.

“Thank you Shreveport!!! house is for sale moving back to Las Vegas … i love u all I am sorry it didn’t work out,” Baiul wrote.

“I can’t make a living in Shreveport. Unfortunately I can’t,” Baiul said on Facebook. “I do love all the people here. I came for a reason, and it did not happen. I came here to create some things, but they did not come to fruition I have to go where the ice exists.”

According to CBS affiliate KSLA-TV in Shreveport, Baiul and her estranged husband Carlo Farina started divorce proceedings over the summer. They share a 10-year-old daughter Sophia, according to a post Baiul shared on Facebook.

Baiul said her “heart is broken” by the situation, “I have so many friends here. I have met a lot of wonderful and beautiful people here,” she said.

In one video on Facebook, Baiul thanked her friends and fans for their support and said, “I love you all and I will see you very, very soon.”

The gold medalist, originally from Dnipro, Ukraine, shared multiple photos and videos of the home, showing off the fountain in the yard that “can be turned into an ice skating rink” in the winter.

When one friend asked Baiul if she’ll be posting about her new life in Las Vegas, she said, “YES absolutely.”

Baiul, at the age of 16, won the gold medal in the ladies’ singles event at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.
