Gene Simmons hospitalized in California SUV crash month before KISS reunion show

Gene Simmons is on the mend after the KISS legend was hospitalized in a California car crash Tuesday afternoon, NBC4 Los Angeles reported.

The 76-year-old musician was hurt in the crash that happened on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu just before 1 p.m. on Oct. 7, according to the news outlet.

Simmons’ Lincoln Navigator was said to have crashed into a parked car, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department told NBC4. The KISS bassist was said to have passed out or fainted before colliding with the parked car.

A spokesperson for the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station confirmed to PEOPLE that an incident involving the same car did occur. However, they did not identify the driver involved. Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, told NBC4 that the rockstar was recovering at home.

The incident comes roughly a month before KISS is expected to reunite for the first time in two years, despite previously saying their 2023 concerts would be their last together.

KISS will perform an unmasked live show as part of the three-day KISS Army Storms Vegas event from Nov. 14-16 at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. The “everything KISS” paradise will be in celebration of KISS Army’s 50th Anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the first KISS fan convention.
