The Miami Dolphins are 1-5, and the team is looking like they may need a full reset in 2026. There has been plenty of drama surrounding the team’s locker room following comments from Tua Tagovailoa, along with head coach Mike McDaniel being on the hottest seat in terms of being let go in 2026.

To make matters worse, there have been a ton of rumors regarding the Dolphins potentially being huge sellers at the trade deadline. One of the biggest rumors is that the team is potentially trading away Jaylen Waddle. Now, it the team has reportedly addressed that decision in a big way.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke down reports he is hearing around the league, and he revealed a major update on the Dolphins and Waddle situation.
“Several teams have called the Dolphins about star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and sources say those teams have been told Miami has no interest in trading him. Similar to Simmons for Tennessee, dealing Waddle would signal a look to the future rather than trying to win now. While things can change, it seems far more likely Miami would be willing to deal an edge rusher (perhaps Matt Judon, Bradley Chubb or even Jaelan Phillips),” Rapoport wrote.

Rapoport indicated that multiple teams have called the Dolphins regarding the availability of Waddle, but the team shut down those calls. They have “no interest” in trading their top receiver.
Miami lost Tyreek Hill to a season-ending ankle injury, leaving Waddle to be the new WR1. Waddle leads the team with 390 yards and three touchdowns thus far this season.
There is still plenty of belief from the Dolphins team that they can turn things around and compete in the AFC. However, a few more losses and the team can all but guarantee they won’t make the playoffs.
Regardless, Waddle was always the receiver that the Dolphins viewed as the star to take over as the biggest deep ball threat if and when Hill stopped playing in Miami.
Miami may be struggling but trading away Waddle would mean they are headed for a full reset. Things might change if the team is 1-7 by the trade deadline, but Waddle will remain with the team now.
