Former Hawkeye linebacker Jack Campbell continues to succeed on and off the field for the Detroit Lions.
Campbell was handed the keys to the Lions’ defense this season, and he has made the most of his opportunity as a leader of the unit.
Through 11 games this season, Campbell has tallied 108 total tackles (56 solo, 52 assisted), four sacks, and two forced fumbles.
Before starring in the NFL, Campbell was a staple of the Iowa Hawkeyes’ defense from 2019 to 2022.
During his four years in Iowa City, Campbell tallied 299 total tackles (139 solo, 160 assisted), five interceptions, three sacks, and three forced fumbles.
Campbell not only excelled on the football field, but as a leader in the community as well.
During his college career, Campbell was active in the Iowa City community, volunteering at the Stead Family Children’s Hospital, the Football Legacy Weekend Kids Camp, the Community Crisis Services Food Bank, and the Iowa Football Blood Drive.
After continuing his work in the Detroit community, Campbell is set to receive a Big Ten Leadership Award.

Campbell was named the 2025 recipient of the Big Ten’s Ford-Kinnick Leadership Award.
The Ford-Kinnick Leadership Award is presented annually to a former Big Ten student-athlete who continues to achieve success in leadership after graduation.
The award is named after Iowa’s Nile Kinnick and Michigan’s Gerald Ford.
During his time in Detroit, Campbell has worked with multiple community initiatives, including the Tradegy Assistant Program for Survivors, the Salute to Service Care Package event, the Rookie Readiness Enrichment Program, and the Adaptive Warrior Home Remodel project.
