GREENVILLE, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Greenville Police Department said a dozen people were injured in a bus crash early Friday morning.
Dispatchers received a 911 call shortly before 1 a.m. after a crash involving a Greyhound bus and a dump truck occurred on I-85.
The driver of the bus was seriously injured and 11 passengers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said.
The bus was en route from Charlotte to Atlanta. A total of 34 people were on the bus, and the uninjured passengers were picked up by Greenlink.
The crash remains under investigation.
A spokesperson for Greyhound released the following statement on the incident:
“We can confirm that one of our buses traveling from Charlotte, NC to Atlanta was involved in an accident on July 25 near Greenville, SC. At the time of the accident, there were approximately 33 passengers and one bus operator on board. Some passengers and our driver were hospitalized as a result of this accident. A relief bus is en route to transport remaining passengers to their final destination. Our team is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and providing support to our passengers, the driver, and law enforcement. As the investigation is ongoing, we have no further comments at this time.”
