‘Thamma’, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, has hit theaters today. The film opened to mixed reviews at the theaters. While some have hailed ‘Thamma’ as the “perfect Diwali watch,” others have described it as a “disappointment.” The male lead recently refuted the notion that the movie was about vampires, claiming that it was actually about Betaals. ‘Thamma’ is not the first film on Betaal
The Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer is not the first movie based on Betaal. Shantilal Soni directed a film in 1986 titled ‘Vikram Vetal’. The film starred the late acting legend Vikram Gokhale, Deepika Chikhalia, Manhar Desai, and Satish Shah in the lead roles.
The movie was based on the ‘Baital Pachisi’, which is a collection of Indian tales and legends about King Vikramaditya and the Vetala.

The film also featured a song titled ‘Tera Badan Tera Yauvan’, crooned by Shabbir Kumar. The music for the film was composed by Nadeem-Shravan.
