Audible has officially set the release date for DeVon Franklin’s highly anticipated one-man theatrical event. Be True: My Journey from Breakdown to Breakthrough will be released globally as an Audible Original on January 29, 2026, giving millions of listeners a front-row seat to Franklin’s most personal performance to date.
The show was recorded live at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City the weekend of July 18 and is now available for pre-order on Audible.
Written, produced, and performed by Franklin, Be True takes audiences through his journey from divorce to healing, blending emotional transparency, faith, and humor. It’s a bold new chapter for the trailblazing producer and bestselling author—offering a raw, moving, and often funny look at how heartbreak can become the foundation for breakthrough.
In an exclusive interview with Blex Media ahead of the performance, Franklin shared:
“This is the first time I’m doing anything like this. It’s my journey over the past few years—my healing journey—told in a way that I hope entertains but also inspires. I want to bring hope to Broadway.”
Franklin emphasized that Be True isn’t just about personal healing—it’s a call to action for men, especially, to embrace emotional honesty:
“We as men don’t always take the chance to express ourselves. I hope this show can model a new form of manhood—one where vulnerability leads to victory.”
The performance, staged in partnership with Audible Theater, featured lighting design by Stacey Derosier, production stage management by Narissa Agustin, theatrical supervision from Beacon Theatrical Services, and general management by ShowTown Theatricals.
Franklin, who currently stars in BET+’s Divorced Sistas, has long used storytelling as a vehicle for faith and inspiration. His filmography includes Flamin’ Hot, Breakthrough, Miracles from Heaven, and The Star. He recently wrapped production on Ruth & Boaz for Netflix, and the Amazon/MGM romantic comedy Relationship Goals starring Kelly Rowland and Method Man.
Franklin told Blex Media that Be True is “the most real, most honest, most transparent” project he’s ever done—describing the process of writing and performing it as “cathartic” and “a revelation.”
“The only thing we own in this world is our story,” he said. “This show is about taking ownership of mine, so that others are inspired to do the same.”
