- Doc stars Molly Parker as a doctor restarting her career after losing eight years of memory.
- Felicity Huffman and Emma Pfitzer Price join the season 2 cast.
- The second season premiered on Sunday, Sept. 14, with new episodes airing Tuesdays on Fox.
One of Fox’s biggest hits right now is Doc, whose inaugural season was so successful that the network ordered a full 22-episode season 2 before the first one had even ended.
Inspired by real events and based on the popular Italian series Nelle tue mani, the medical drama centers on Dr. Amy Larsen (Molly Parker), who’s forced to start over after a car accident wipes out the last eight years of her memory, including a divorce. Upon losing her position as the chief of internal medicine at Westside Hospital, Amy is starting all over again as an intern, trying to salvage her once-stellar career.
Season 1 ended with a pretty shocking finale, as Dr. Richard Miller (Scott Wolf), the acting chief of internal medicine, was fired and stripped of his medical license. But that role won’t be vacant too long, as someone new is taking over in season 2.
That said, read on to learn all about the Doc season 2 cast, from the new faces to the returning stars.
Molly Parker as Dr. Amy Larsen
John Medland/FOX
Emmy nominee Molly Parker, who plays Dr. Amy Larsen, the former chief of internal medicine now downgraded to an intern, is among the many stars returning for Doc season 2.
Co-showrunner Hank Steinberg recently told TV Insider that not only will Parker’s character continue to regain her memories, but her love triangle with Jake and Michael will become even more complicated.
“Amy shared a lifetime of building a life together and a family with one man, and yet there’s something very elemental and chemical and kind of pure in her connection with Jake to the point that it’s so evident something between them kind of no matter when in their life points they meet,” he explained. “There’s that natural tension between an older, deeper love and something that’s newer and hungrier and it feels chemical and elemental.”
Parker has decades of experience, but she’s arguably best known for her roles on the shows Deadwood (2004–2006), House of Cards (2014–2016), Goliath (2016), and Lost in Space (2018–2021). On the big screen, her notable credits include Kissed (1996), The Center of the World (2001), 1922 (2017), and Pieces of a Woman (2020).
Omar Metwally as Dr. Michael Hamda
John Medland/FOX
Omar Metwally has been a handy supporting actor, with roles in films like Steven Spielberg’s Munich (2005), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 (2012), and Non-Stop (2014). On the small screen, Metwally is perhaps best known for The Affair (2015–2019), Mr. Robot (2016–2017), and Big Sky (2021).
Now, Metwally returns to Doc for season 2, reprising his role as Amy’s ex-husband, chief medical officer Dr. Michael Hamda.
Jon Ecker as Dr. Jake Heller
John Medland/FOX
Formerly a marine biologist, Jon Ecker traded the sea for a career in acting. He started out in Colombian and Mexican productions before transitioning toward a global stage, and you might know him best from Narcos (2015–2016), Chicago Fire (2021), Firefly Lane (2021), and The Watchful Eye (2023).
Ecker reprises his role as chief resident Dr. Jake Heller in Doc season 2. Following the show’s second season renewal, the actor told Collider he was eager to flesh out his character a bit more.
“We do have a lot more episodes to fill this season, and it would be nice to see a little bit of that family life,” he said. “I think that’ll help round out the character for the audience to see things outside of the hospital and outside of the relationship with Amy.”
Amirah Vann as Dr. Gina Walker
FOX
Since starring as Ernestine on Underground (2016–2017), Amirah Vann has gained further recognition for How to Get Away With Murder (2017–2020), Arcane (2021–2024), and The Changeling (2023). You may also know her from the films A Jazzman’s Blues (2022) and Shirley (2024).
Vann is back for Doc season 2, reprising her role as Dr. Gina Walker, a neuropsychiatrist and Amy’s best friend. In an interview with TV Insider, the actress teased Gina and Amy’s friendship in season 2, saying it’s “one that’s based in honesty and really genuine respect and love.” She added, “I think Gina definitely sees [Amy] as an extraordinary doctor, but also as just a powerful woman, and a loving woman.”
Anya Banerjee as Dr. Sonya Maitra
FOX
Aside from Doc, you probably know Anya Banerjee best for her role as Siya Malik in the final season of The Blacklist (2017).
She’s also a playwright, and her piece Apologies to the Bengali Lady was performed at both The Tank in New York and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
Banerjee returns for Doc season 2, starring as resident Dr. Sonya Maitra.
Felicity Huffman as Dr. Joan Ridley
John Medland/FOX
Emmy winner Felicity Huffman has been a TV staple for years, and you might know her best from the shows Desperate Housewives (2004–2012), American Crime (2015–2017), and When They See Us (2019). She also earned an Oscar nomination for playing Sabrina “Bree” Osbourne, a transgender woman, in the 2005 film Transamerica.
Her career took a major hit in 2019 amid the “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal. She pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, and was sentenced to 14 days in jail.
Now, Huffman is back on TV and joining Doc season 2 as Dr. Joan Ridley, Amy’s former mentor and the new chief of internal medicine at Westside.
Steinberg described Joan to TV Insider as “a tough, old-school feminist, big believer in female empowerment and self-made and a really interesting, eccentric personality.”
He continued, “She is double boarded in internal medicine and surgery and has traveled the world doing Doctors With Borders type of medicine, so she’s been all over the world … She’s tough and exacting on the other doctors in a similar way to how Amy is, but she’s smoother with how she does it.”
Patrick Walker as Dr. Theodore “TJ” Coleman
John Medland/FOX
Patrick Walker is no stranger to medical dramas, having starred in the first two seasons of Fox’s The Resident (albeit as a science teacher). Since then, Walker has landed major roles on the Apple TV+ shows The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey (2022) and Lessons in Chemistry (2023).
Walker joined Doc season 1 as a recurring player, but he’s been promoted to series regular for its second season. He portrays Dr. Theodore “TJ” Coleman, a veteran and first-year resident.
In an interview with TV Fanatic, Walker shared that TJ’s age and background are what drew him to the role. “You’re watching somebody who was a combat medic and then went straight to the hospital. What he’s able to do at this time and this age is very fun to watch. And I wanted to be a part of something like that,” he said.
Charlotte Fountain-Jardim as Katie Hamda
FOX
Charlotte Fountain-Jardim previously landed guest roles on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2023) and the series adaptation Ted (2024), but she’s really made a name for herself on Doc.
Like Walker, she started as a recurring character in season 1, but has since been upped to series regular for Doc season 2. Fountain-Jardim plays Katie Hamda, Amy and Michael’s daughter.
Emma Pfitzer Price as Hannah
Steven Ferdman/Getty
Juilliard graduate Emma Pfitzer Price is about to have her big break with Doc, but you might also recognize her from shows like Evil (2024), FBI: International (2025), and Poker Face (2025).
Price joins Doc season 2 as Hannah, who TVLine described as “a hard-working intern with a disturbing secret.”
Sarah Allen as Nora
Taylor Hill/FilmMagic
Sarah Allen has had prominent roles on shows like Jozi-H (2006–2007), 19-2 (2014–2015), and Remedy (2014–2015). She has also appeared in films such as Strange But True (2019) and The Retreat (2021).
Allen returns to Doc season 2 as Nora, Michael’s wife and the mother of his new baby.
Executive producer Barbie Kligman recently told TV Insider that things between Nora and Amy are still tense in season 2. “It’s safe to say Nora does not love Amy and Amy doesn’t want to braid her hair either,” she said. “So that we’ll get to see a little bit in [Episode] 2, and we’ll get to feel some of that dynamic in [Episode] 3, when Katie is over at the house with them and the new baby and there’s some talk about Amy and the discomfort that comes with that.”
Where can I watch Doc?
