Kelly Clarkson has officially kicked off her Las Vegas residency.
During a performance over the weekend, the American Idolwinner was taken aback in a beautiful moment that caused her to stop the show. As she and her band were gearing up to cover Creep by Radiohead, Clarkson was surprised by a beautiful segment played by her band.
“Look nothing is better than the original, I’m going to own that right now, but I’m going to do my best to just, like, have fun with it,” she told the audience. The band kicked off the beginning of the song and Clarkson stood on stage with her mouth open.
“Oh my god, I missed this part in rehearsal,” she said, looking over at her band. “That was so beautiful. I can’t even… [Ishmael].. what the f***? We did this in soundcheck and you did not do that.”
“Can we do it again? I wasn’t ready,’ the chart topper said. ‘Do it again, I want to watch,” Clarkson told the band. They restarted the song and Clarkson couldn’t help but note that what they did with the arrangement was “beautiful.”
Last month, Clarkson made headlines when she canceled her first two shows of her “Studio Sessions” residency at Las Vegas’ Colosseum Theater at Caesars Palace.
“It took me a minute. I’m so sorry. I know some of y’all had tickets for last weekend’s shows. I’m so sorry. We can’t help our bodies sometimes. You know, we get sick, and that happens,” she told the audience on opening night, which was moved to July 11.
“But thank y’all for showing up. We are so excited. This is my favorite residency, my favorite show I’ve ever put together, because I love being in the studio,” she added.
Clarkson’s residency runs through November 15.
