Kings at Suns odds, picks and predictions

The Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns open their seasons Wednesday at Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Kings vs. Suns odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

2024-25 season series: Kings won 3-1

The Kings made the Play-In Tournament last season, winning 40 games in the regular season, including 3 wins over the Suns. That wasn’t good enough of a showing, as GM Monte McNair was fired, so it’s now Scott Perry running the show. Doug Christie did well down the stretch in an interim role, and he now takes over as full-time coach. The Kings added F Drew Eubanks and F Dario Saric, as well as G Dennis Schroder and G Russell Westbrook. G Nique Clifford, who starred at Colorado State, was a nice add via the NBA Draft.

The Suns signed G Devin Booker to an extension, but they shook things up with F Kevin Durant going to the Houston Rockets in a huge 7-team trade in the offseason. F Dillon Brooks and G Jalen Green head to the desert, with rookie C Khaman Maluach as the big get in the draft. The Suns fans will have to wait a bit to see Green, though, as he is out with a hamstring issue. G Bradley Beal and G Tyus Jones are both gone, too.

Kings at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 113, Kings 106

The Suns (-185) aren’t priced out of line if you’re super conservative, but it’s a far better value to just lay the little bit of points here.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

The SUNS -4.5 (-105) are a little bit of a concern, as Green was brought in to be a big part of the team’s core, but he is out for the opener with a hamstring.

Still, the Kings have issues themselves, with the big man Sabonis on the shelf due to a hamstring issue, while Murray is also on the shelf. Sacto doesn’t have a ton of depth, so missing big chunks of scoring from Murray and Sabonis will hurt.

The UNDER 228.5 (-105) might be the best play on the board.

The total cashed in the final 2 meetings last spring, and the total has gone low at a 6-3 clip in the past 9 meetings. That’s all well and good, but the main reason we’re going Under is that major offensive contributors are sidelined — with Murray and Sabonis out for the Kings and Green out for the Suns.
