MSC expands cruise fleet for the 2026–2027 South American season | Cruise News

MSC Cruises is preparing for a notable expansion in the 2026–2027 South American season, announcing the deployment of five ships to the region.

The highlight of this new phase will be the debut of MSC Virtuosa, marking a significant development in the company’s Latin American operations. Joining the Virtuosa will be the MSC Divina, MSC Splendida, MSC Musica, and MSC Lirica, ensuring a varied selection of voyages for travelers eager to explore the South Atlantic coast. The fleet will operate from ports in Brazil and Argentina, with sailings scheduled between November 2026 and April 2027.

As interest in South American cruising continues to grow, MSC Cruises is strengthening its regional program with a full seasonal deployment. Brazil will serve as homeport to four of the vessels, while Argentina will host one, a clear indication of the market’s increasing importance in global cruise itineraries.

The MSC Virtuosa, launched in 2021, will lead this expansion. As one of the fleet’s most advanced ships, it will bring contemporary design, extensive amenities, and a range of entertainment and dining options to passengers embarking from Brazil. The Virtuosa’s arrival will establish it as a central feature in the company’s South American network.

Accompanying it, the MSC Divina will complete its first full season in the region, delivering a refined cruise experience consistent with MSC’s international standards. Meanwhile, the MSC Splendida, MSC Musica, and MSC Lirica will continue to serve guests with the style and service for which the company has become known.

During the 2026–2027 season, MSC Cruises will operate more than one hundred sailings across diverse itineraries. Departures will be offered from major Brazilian ports, including Rio de Janeiro and Santos, while Buenos Aires will function as the principal embarkation point for Argentine travelers. These itineraries will range from short coastal voyages to extended cruises, enabling guests to experience both the natural beauty of Brazil’s shores and the cultural richness of southern port cities.

Adding further distinction to the upcoming season, the MSC Magnifica will arrive in South American waters as part of its world cruise. Sailing from Europe, the vessel will include calls at Brazilian and Argentine ports, with overnight stays in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires—offering passengers an opportunity for a deeper exploration of these celebrated destinations.

Through an expanded fleet and a broad selection of itineraries, MSC Cruises aims to deliver a comprehensive experience that highlights the diversity and vitality of South America. Travelers can expect the company’s hallmark blend of comfort, gastronomy, entertainment, and innovative amenities across all ships. Onboard experiences will range from family-oriented attractions to wellness programs, ensuring options suited to every type of traveler.

For those planning their first voyage in the region, MSC recommends preparing for varying climates along the coast, embracing the local cuisine and culture, and securing excursions early to make the most of each port visit. Notable highlights include the scenic vistas of Rio de Janeiro and the cultural vibrancy of Buenos Aires.

Bookings for the 2026–2027 South American season will open on October 20th, 2025.
