Whew, so much went down at that winter festival, including the unintentional hard launch of a blossoming relationship between Alex’s former best friend Kiley and Cole’s best friend Dylan. And based on his facial expression when it happened, Alex has some… feelings about Kiley and Dylan getting together.
“Dylan is also an extension of Cole. Dylan is Cole’s best friend, so I’m sure [Alex is] not super jazzed about them being together,” Gentry confirms. “On top of that, [Dylan] kind of represents everything that Kiley goes against, and maybe there’s some lingering feelings there that he’s not aware of. I think that also could be part of it.”
Finally, the biggest question: will Mr. Walter survive his heart attack?

This one’s a big TBD. The major season 2 cliffhanger is that Mr. Walter has ostensibly passed out on the ranch while tending to his new vineyard grounds — we see breadcrumbs of the patriarch’s worsening condition throughout the season with the amount of stress he’s taking on with the ranch development, as well as a moment of him experiencing chest pains at his anniversary dinner in a previous episode. Whatever happens with Mr. Walter is going to have serious impact on each of the characters in the show, especially the main trio and our heroine, who has already tragically lost both parents.
“One, it [will] certainly delay the conversation that they need to have,” Gentry jokes. “Everything is already so intense, so I’m not sure,” Rodriguez says. “It’s kind of like, where do you go from here, genuinely?”
“I think it’ll definitely put things in perspective,” LaLonde offers. “Because I think when you live in the bubble that is the love triangle, it’s pretty all-encapsulating. Having somebody who is so important to their lives… to see the person who kind of shepherded them along [in crisis], maybe [someone they] took for granted because they weren’t really around for a lot of the financial troubles, it was a lot of weight on Dad and on Will… There’ll be some added perspective. Hopefully he’s okay.”
