5 questions with LeRoy Butler: Packers’ secondary woes almost costly
LeRoy Butler looks back at the Cardinals game wondering what was going on in the secondary, and how Aaron Rodgers may get the better of Micah Parsons.
PITTSBURGH − After missing two games with a quad injury on his kicking leg, Green Bay Packers kicker Brandon McManus is active Oct. 26 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
McManus kicked in the Oct. 23 practice, a sign he was trending toward being active. The Packers listed him as questionable on the Oct. 24 injury report. With McManus active, backup kicker Lucas Havrisik is inactive. Havrisik was perfect on all field-goal and extra-point attempts the past two weeks, including a franchise-record 61-yard field goal before halftime against the Arizona Cardinals last week.
The Packers chose to keep Havrisik on their roster when they activated receiver Christian Watson off the physically-unable-to-perform list, releasing tight end Ben Sims instead. Watson is active for the first time since tearing his ACL in the 2024 regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears.
Devonte Wyatt active after returning to practice this week
The Packers could be getting a big boost in the middle of their defense with tackle Devonte Wyatt active. Wyatt has missed the past two games because of a knee injury.
When healthy, Wyatt was playing at a Pro Bowl level. He had two sacks in his first two games this season before dropping out of Week 4 at Dallas with the knee injury. The question is whether Wyatt can play at his full capacity against the Steelers. Wyatt is back on the field quicker than last season when he missed three games midway through the season because of an ankle injury. It took Wyatt several weeks to return to his usual form.
Matthew Golden active after being listed as questionable
A limited participant Oct. 24, rookie receiver Matthew Golden is active after being listed as questionable on the injury report.
Receiver Dontayvion Wicks is inactive. He was listed out on the injury report because of a knee injury.
Defensive end Lukas Van Ness, defensive tackle Warren Brinson, and offensive linemen Jacob Monk and Donovan Jennings round out the Packers inactive list. Van Ness was ruled out Friday because of a foot injury.
For the Steelers, wide receiver Scotty Miller, offensive lineman Andrus Peat, defensive tackle Logan Lee and defensive end Demarvin Leal are inactive.
