Prosecutors upgrade charge against suspect in Turkey Mountain stabbing

Prosecutors have filed an upgraded charge against the man accused of stabbing a woman during a random and violent attack at Turkey Mountain.

Jesse Brown, who was originally charged with assault with a deadly weapon, is now facing a more serious count: assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

ORIGINAL STORY: Turkey Mountain stabbing suspect in custody

The Attack at Turkey Mountain

The incident happened during what police say was an unprovoked assault. A woman was stabbed in the face while on a trail at Turkey Mountain, a popular outdoor area in Tulsa. Investigators say the woman and Brown did not know each other.

Upgraded Charge Filed

Prosecutors have now upgraded Brown’s charge, raising the severity of the allegation against him. The new count, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, carries heavier legal consequences under Oklahoma law than his original charge.

Suspect Remains in Custody

Brown remains in the Tulsa County Jail without bond as of July 31. Court records show no upcoming release hearing has been set, and the case continues to move through the judicial process.

What Happens Next?

Brown is expected to appear in court again in the coming days. Prosecutors have not released further details about the evidence that led to the upgraded charge, but additional filings may come as the investigation continues.
