Sydney Sweeney’s hairstylist is coming to her defense.
Following the 28-year-old actress’ Monday, Dec. 1, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, internet personality Blakely Thornton criticized her look, claiming it reflected MAGA ideologies and calling her hairstyle “the stiffest wig.”
“I don’t want to keep talking about this white girl, but I’m very aware that at this point, her and her team of what I assume are white, Republican, self-hating gays are committed to the bit,” Thornton said in an Instagram Reel, which showed himself in front of a green screen image of Sweeney. “They’re doing this s— on purpose. Why else would you go on a late-night talk show looking like Effie Trinket’s lost niece? The stiffest wig this side of the Mississippi unless you want to get read for filth.”
Hours later, Thornton shared another Reel, which included a screenshot of an alleged comment exchange between himself and Sweeney’s hairstylist Glen “Coco” Oropeza. “It’s 11pm and I’m feeling petty,” Thornton captioned the post. The comment exchange appears to have been deleted.
“Wasn’t a wig but you can’t get my girl’s name out of your mouth,” Oropeza’s account allegedly commented, according to the screenshots Thornton shared. “You’re obsessed.”
The stylist appears to have followed the comment up with another, writing, “Stiff where? You’re doing a lot … Take a breath, diva. You can keep trying to spin a narrative, but we all know you just need click bait cuz your content is TIRED. If you need attention, just say that. Imagine caring this much about a hairstyle you didn’t create and a woman who doesn’t know you exist. Goodnight.”

Thornton is seen in another screenshot having replied to Oropeza’s comments, writing, “I hope you get paid overtime for being a sycophant after 9pm PST. If so I can sign your timesheet. And you’re right, Black people are tired … very much so … good luck on the rest of the press tour.”
Thornton has previously been critical of Sweeney’s fashion looks as well as her affiliation with figures such as Jeff Bezos.
In September, Thornton criticized Sweeney’s star-studded birthday party and its guests (which included Bezos and his wife, Lauren), claiming the bash “looked like the third circle of hell.”
