Merab Dvalishvili will also make his third bantamweight title defence against Cory Sandhagen.

It will be the UFC’s first main card for over a month since UFC 319 in Chicago on August 16 and the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will serve as the venue for the event.

Ankalaev is fresh from claiming the 205lbs strap from Pereira at UFC 313 in March.

The Russian secured a unanimous decision victory to hand his opponent a first defeat in the weight class.

In doing so, Ankalaev also extended his own unbeaten streak to 14 fights, dating back eight-and-a-half years to his UFC debut.

On that occasion, he was submitted by Paul Craig in the final second of their fight after being caught in a triangle choke.

As for Dvalishvili, he has won 13 fights in a row since dropping his first two bouts in the UFC.

The Georgian brawler claimed the bantamweight title in September 2024 by beating Sean O’Malley at UFC 306.

He has since beaten Umar Nurmagomedov and won a rematch with O’Malley before meeting number four ranked Sandhagen in October.

UFC 320: What has been said?

Ankalaev has given a hint into his game plan for the rematch following his previous meeting with Pereira.

He told Ushatayka: “If it’s possible, I won’t try to take him down because he’s expecting it. But let him prepare, that’s fine.

“I actually want him to come into this fight 100 percent, so there are no questions about the outcome.”

The 33-year-old continued: “I don’t want to hear talk like last time about him not being ready or something not being done. I want him to be in great shape so that after our fight, he has no excuses.”

Fellow champion Dvalishvili is also confident, having already named his next opponent prior to facing the Sandman.

Speaking in August, the Machine told the Full Send Podcast: “I want to turn around quickly. I don’t overlook Cory Sandhagen, it’s gonna be a tough fight, but God willing, I’m gonna do my best to win this fight.

“And if I win, I’m gonna come back quick, turn around. I want to fight in December. I will ask the UFC [for] a favour to give me another fight in December or even November.

“I don’t care, I can come back, because Petr Yan is [a] clear contender right now. He deserves it, I don’t want to make him wait too long.

“I can take a quick turnaround and fight him, and after we will see who will be next – the next contender.”
