Wendy Williams’ lawyer revealed they are still waiting on test results from doctors to determine the next move in her guardianship despite a recent report suggesting the guardianship had been upheld, Us Weekly can exclusively report.
On Tuesday, September 9, Williams’ attorney Allan Diamond wrote a letter to the federal judge seeking to delay a proposed deposition of the entertainer. Williams’ guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, sued A&E Television Networks over the two-part documentary the network released in 2024.
In the letter, Diamond said he understands A&E Television Networks and possibly other defendants have requested to depose Williams. He said it was “premature to require my client to sit for a deposition at this time.”
He said Williams’ legal team has been “and continue to be — vigorously engaged in obtaining medical, psychological and healthcare assessments of my client from some of the leading neurologists and neuropsychologists in the country.”

Diamond added, “While much of that testing has occurred, we still await further test results, diagnoses and prognoses from our medical team before moving forward with any treatment or other planning in connection with my client’s guardianship proceedings.”
Williams’ lawyer noted they hope to have “this needed additional healthcare information sometime before the end of next month.” He said that “premature disclosure of any information in this regard could be highly prejudicial to my client and the guardianship proceedings.” Diamond asked the court to delay scheduling Williams’ deposition until the medical results come back.

The letter makes it clear that assessments on Williams, 61, are not finished. This comes weeks after sources told People that Williams’ guardianship was upheld based on a recent medical exam.
On August 12, People reported that Williams had been rediagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and aphasia.
A day later, Morrissey’s lawyer wrote a letter requesting Williams’ deposition not move forward at this stage. She argued the deposition could not move forward until various issues, including challenges to the guardian’s authority by certain members of Williams’ family and her ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, were resolved.

It was first reported in February 2024 that Williams had been diagnosed with health issues.

Williams has been under a court-ordered guardianship since 2022. The drama started after Wells Fargo filed court docs claiming they feared Williams was an “incapacitated person” and a “victim of undue influence.”

As Us first reported, Hunter filed a $250 million lawsuit against Morrissey and others involved with the guardianship. Weeks later, Williams’ lawyer asked for the case to be dismissed. He claimed Williams did not want the case to move forward. The judge has yet to rule.
